This will probably be my last entry until next year 2014, so I would like to wish one and all a very Happy Christmas, and best wishes for the year ahead.
Despite the time of year and the very short days, I have managed to get the hedge planted alongside the front wall. We have chosen to use Cupressus Goldcrest, as the foilage has a greenish yellow tint, making for a more interesting colour than normal dark green. The bushes should reach about 5 feet high, which will give us a bit of protection from the East, and in turn give our grey wall some colour!
Further on from the end of the newly planted hedge, we have a Larch tree. I am in the process of removing the moss from underneath, so I can plant various bulbs around the trunk, which will flower before the tree shows its needle type foliage in the spring.
Other projects include moving the chicken run so that I have room to place my new polytunnel and a small vegetable garden. At the moment we have mole problems in that area that need to be addressed. I have decided to hold Propagation Courses again, next year. If you are interested for futher information, please use the Contact Us page. It will be a practical course with small groups for individual attention.
